Wish there was an option for ZERO stars because that's what this company deserves! ZERO customer service deserves ZERO stars. They will rip you off, buyer beware! Their delivery company GLS is HORRIBLE. Because the driver would not get out of the truck to punch my code into our security gate, they marked the delivery as "refused", twice. (this was after 3-4 successful shipments.) What a JOKE!
Nice at first. Steaks now are dry, tasteless, grainy and with lots of connective tissue. They are uneatable. I get very expensive filet mignon for months and months.
When I mention that I had to throw away 3 steaks of the 7 that I cooked, I was told that it was me who over cooked them or cooked them wrong. They just keep sending me cooking instructions because they assume I’m an idiot who has never cooked grass fed beef (because that is a brand new invention in their mind).
They tell me they can’t compensate me for taste as that is subjective and the dryness is because my medium rare steak was over cooked. Absolutely terrible customer service and I’ve ordered every month for a long time.
Their meat is very inconsistent snd their customer service is to simply blame you the client.
I am cancelling my membership.

The first month, when my order arrived, I received two boxes. I checked my card and sure enough, it’s there twice. I thought I must have made a mistake, (the site “glitched”, said the order didn’t go thru so I submitted a second time) and it’s not like I can send frozen meat back anyway, so I just made sure my account truly reflected that I only want to receive ONE box the next month and moved on... the second month my card was charged (one time) and I decided to cancel after that. The meat wasn’t bad, just not worth the cost in my opinion. Month two was fine. And should’ve been the last. However...
My card was charged again, a month after my cancellation confirmation email. I called immediately and asked for a reversal of the charges. They denied having charged my card at all. A box showed up a week later. They claim that I created a second account, using an invalid email address (.cem instead of .com. Interestingly, the letters aren’t even close on the keyboard, it was not and couldn’t have been a mistype. But, if you skim over a packing slip the e and o look similar enough to be missed.). I absolutely did not. But they most certainly charged my credit card.
In short, what I learned was:
1- the customer service rep was rude, unfriendly, and very unhelpful.
2- I don’t believe the first month’s second box was truly a glitch,
3- the second question she asked me was do you have a second account? No, why would I, what would be the point of that? Upon ‘further investigation’ it appears that you did make a second acct and we’re not doing anything for you, you can’t send it back and you’re not getting a refund.
4- after reading reviews, it appears that they do this often, as I’m not the only one who has reported here that I received a second box the first month and had a second account fraudulently created.
5- Don’t. Do. It!!!
I loved this food service when it made sense. They are not flexible in helping to re-route food when you are not able to accept it. Let me explain. I recently had an emergency move as a family member fell really sick in another state and forgot about this. I inquired if they can cancel or re-route my order. They said no to both and I absorbed $400+ loss. I worked with other companies that allowed me to re-route orders and this is the first company that is incapable of doing this. I used to love this and will now have to reconsider at this point. This is on top of other bills to support my family. Most likely will cancel.
The food is so bad it almost broke up a home.
Had the worst argument over their salmon. Their salmon patties stayed in the freezer since FEB. 2021. No one could bring themselves to try to cook it. Inevitably it spoiled. Someone got slapped. Twice***
When I tried to cancel on the website, it had "tech issues." Now I have a shipment of the dead animal carcasses that I won't eat or cannot return.

The meat quality is excellent! However I do not recommend the beef burgers nor the salmon burgers. The beef burgers taste really bad and the salmon burgers are dry and too hot spicy. Other than that I recommend only the meat (not cooked or processed), the chicken and the fish. They should have keep only the unprocessed meat...
Fk butcher box! I ordered Butcherbox and I was very excited for it. I spent $200 for the subscription. Apparently the driver came to deliver the box when I wasn’t home. I was unaware of a time or a date of delivery. If you’re in the delivery business the customer should know when to expect a package so we can make reservations for someone to be home to retrieve the package. Companies like Amazon keep their customers updated. Butcher box tried to deliver but they didn’t have the access code to my apartment door. The office of Butcher box called me and I told him I’m only five minutes away I’ll be there. The person working for Butcher box on the phone said, “well the driver needs to just deliver it so if you can hurry up and open the door that would be great.” I did explain again that I was only five minutes away and will be there soon. The customer service representative hung up on me and the driver left and I didn’t receive my package. I think that was very unprofessional. And I do not recommend butcher box because of their unprofessionalism.

Skeptical about it all now... My wife and I decided to try Butcherbox, and not too impressed so far... First delivery was botched, and our trouble to resolve it. We started with the bacon once we received a replacement box, and it was good but poor value for quantity (I'll get to that). Next we tried the cod, and best we can say is meh. Very skimpy cuts of low-graded catch. The chicken breast are mediocre and half we had were woody)
The best preparation I had with them has been in chicken parmigiana. Today we are trying the filet mignon, but expectations are low as they are cut only 3/4" thick! Who cuts a filet this thin??? The thinest a filet should ever be is 1-1/4", and most every chef prefers 1-1/2" to 2". Now my comment about poor value to cost, and I understand at least 20% of the cost is shipping, cold-keeping packaging and dry ice. However, my wife and I live where grass-fed Angus is raised along with corn-fed pig and free-range chicken. We can buy all direct from farm or cut from the local butcher. The quality to value is superior, obviously, and as an example a full pound of uncured, sliced bacon is $5.
Our reason to explore Butcherbox was to find an option for elderly family that live too far from us at this time and cannot get around easily and should minimize contact because of COVID-19 and their health. After the filets we will have the chops, but I'm leaning toward this being a failed experience.

I got my first box, it was all frozen solid, and on time. I am not much of a stake eater most of it turns out dry and tasteless, but the ones I got from butcherbox was so tinder and had the best taste of any beef I have ever had , all the packs were of nice size, just took one to feed my son not 2 like others I have tried, and my cat loves the nice heavy box
Was great at first, but service and product quality has steeply fallen. I will be cancelling my service. I have used butcher box for about a year. I loved that they have grass fed and organic cuts and the convenience - but it is very expensive. Much higher than my local grocery store for same products. Agree with another reviewer that ground beef quality not as good as other options. Also bacon at times is too salty to use. Pork flavor has been off. Filet steaks not cut well. But my main complaint is that past few months shipments have arrived nearly thawed and they have not solved it. Also support for replacement was great first time, they shipped replacements right away, but last time was big hassle about it and only a very small credit. Convenience was nice when it worked. No longer worth it. I will be cancelling.
I have never had a bad experience with Butcher Box. The quality of the meat has always been great. I have been using this service about 2 years now and will continue to do so. Thank you Butcher Box.
